How to arrive at Disneyland Paris?

Taxi

As you can see in our taxi guide, the cost of a taxi to go to Disneyland from Paris is high compare to the train. But feel free to try a quote with our partners here. From central Paris to Disney it would cost around 79€, alone or 4 people is the same. We actually see it quite a good deal and easy way to go to Disneyland if you are 4 it is 20€ per person.

Train

This is the cheapest and easiest way the arrive at Disneyland Paris. From Paris, just take the subway named “RER A” (browse or full map here) till the last station named Marne-la-Vallée Chessy. Link for the trip from gare de Lyon to Disney by tube here. It cost only 5€ per trip for adults and 2.50€ for children under 10. Free under 4 year old.

Car

You can also rent a car and just follow this link to arrive at Disneyland. See our rental guide here or compare rental prices here. But you will need to pay a parking fee on site at about 30€ for a day.

What is the best age for children to visit Disneyland?

Some people visit the park with babies. There is even a changing room and a place to warm up to bottles called the baby care center near the entrance. A baby can enjoy the park with shapes and lights. But not sure your day will be worth it just for that.

The best age is obviously when they start to know the classic Disney movies. Being old enough to enjoy all the roller coasters is a big plus. The minimum height for most roller coasters are around 1.02m/3.34ft up to 1.20m/3.93ft. Most child above 1.20m/3.93ft will be ok for all the attractions except Indiana Jones (requiring 1.40m/4.6ft). To conclude, seven years old and above might be tall enough to enjoy 99% of Disneyland !

So our advice is the compare the plane price first and then select your date from the booking website above. The cheapest option will show at the top. Often it will be the 1-Park Ticket.

You need to scroll down and pay attention if it is a 1-Park or 2-Park ticket in the first place.

Once that checked the most important are the type of tickets. You have 4 different prices from the cheaper to the more expensive : “Eco”, “Low”, “Medium”, and “Peak Season”. The next available date for the selected price range will be showing in a blue link.

When is the best time to visit Disneyland Paris?

As said in our article about 20 mistakes to avoid when visiting Disney there is 3 main point to look for to avoid crowds.

  • -Avoid weekends at all costs. This is when all the French comes and the park is always full up.
  • -Avoid french holidays specially of the zone C (Paris) as there 30% more people already. (link to calendar here).
  • -Avoid July and August. French children do not have school during these months = to much people.

Also we do not recommend going when it is too cold and rainy like January, February, March. Check our average weather page here.

Leaving April, May, June, Septembre, October, the best options not to have rain cold, or too many people in the park! Those are the best months to go to Disneyland Paris.

How long do you need to stay at Disneyland Paris?

It take days to properly visit the park, but each indiviuals will have their own way.

If you are single with friends or on couple you might want to focus on the roller coasters and do it in a day.

If you come with children and you want to make them dream, do the children attractions (very cute even for adults), roller coasters, take you time to relax and eat properly at some of the nice restaurants we would advise 2 days or 3 days.

Best planing for a day at at Disneyland Paris with children

Here we will remove Indiana Jones, Star Wars and RC racer because of height limits, but keep some light roller coasters for children around 1m/3.28ft high. . All activities reviewed here.

This planning will suit children above 4/5 years old most of the time, yet you can remove some with to much sensation likes Crush’s Coaster or Tower of Terror that might be better for above 6/7 year old in terms of sensations and scariness. Other ride like Snow white could be skip specially for child under 5 as some visitors advised us that their children got scared. Ultimately, you will know if your children are sensitive to such things. A good tip is to show them our video of the attraction first and see how they react.

Program :

Start by Big Thunder Mountain to save the long queues later in the day, then head for Pirates of the Caribbean for the same reason. Then if you child is more than 4 year old you could try Phantom Manor. Depending of their mind. They can enjoy it or find it scary even at older ages. We will voluntarily skip Adventure Isle to come back later in the afternoon if you want to, as it is a walk visit without queues. Instead we advise go straight to Star Tours before the afternoon rush.

At this point it is better to go for some attractions at Walt Disney Studio. Why? Because this one usually close one hour before the main Disney park, and their is an attraction not to miss there : Ratatouille ride is THE best for families, both children and adults will love it! Then for children that are not afraid of strong sensations there is Crush’s Coaster and the Tower of Terror lifts. After you can try Parachute Drop or Cars Road Trip if there is less than 30 minutes wait, if not better go back to the main park to do all the remaining activities till Disneyland close.

In the afternoon you can go around and choose between this selection of “10 nice activities” in the main park :

Pinocchio’s, Snow White, Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s a Small World, Princess Pavilion (top for girls), Autopia, Buzz Lightyear laser (appreciated a lot by boys). For the ones who like music, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is not to miss, specially if you know the movies. If you are to tired of waiting anywhere just go for a walk at Adventure Isle and Alice’s Curious Labyrinth.

As you can see it is a hard choice and you probably won’t manage all, and there is many other things we left out. You can get help deciding the important ones for you in our 52 activities reviewed article.

Best planning for 2 days at at Disneyland Paris with children

If you want to do all that in a slower pace. We will wisely divide it into two days for you 🙂 However go there on week days not for a week-end break if you want peace. This planning will still suit children above 4/5 years old. First, we advise to read our “one day” guide above for extra information.

First day : Focus on Disneyland Paris main park.

At the opening, head Big Thunder Mountain to avoid the long queues later in the day, then head for Pirates of the Caribbean for the same reason. If you child is more than 4 year old you could try Phantom Manor. Depending of their mind. They can enjoy it or find it scary even at older ages. After go straight to Star Tours before the afternoon rush.

For the ones who like music, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is not to miss, specially if you know the movies. If you are to tired of waiting anywhere just go for a walk at Adventure Isle and Alice’s Curious Labyrinth.

Second day : Walt Disney Studio and extras at the main park.

Start you second day at Walt Disney Studio. Again the goal is the do the most popular attractions in the morning when there is less people. You will be able to do more activities in less time, without rushing everywhere. Start by the Ratatouille ride, it is THE best for families, both children and adults will love it! Then for children that are not afraid of strong sensations there is Crush’s Coaster and the Tower of Terror lifts. Then head to Parachute Drop or Cars Road Trip, If you like the Lion King you can go and see the show at Frontierland Theater (check activity guide for hours). If you did all that you can catch up with what you missed the day before in our “10 nice activities” on the first day.

Once all that completed, in the evening before the park close, allow yourself to do these outdoor classic rides like The Lancelot Carousel, Tea Cups and Orbitron, There will be less queue for those simple ride that in our opinion don’t deserve to wait 60min or more during peak hours.

Best planing for a day at Disneyland Paris for adults

Here we will focus on sensations and roller coasters. Mainly we will do them in the morning. And keep some nice rides with less queues for the afternoon. See all activities reviewed here.

As soon as you arrive go to Big Thunder mountain, then Indiana Jones, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. Then go to Walt Disney Studios to do the Tower of Terror and Crush’s Coaster. At this point you did all the roller coasters without queuing to much. The rest can be used to go back to the main park and do Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor, and don’t miss the Star Tours. The queuing will be longer as you advanced in the day; but we actually kept those attraction in the afternoon as the queues are better decorated, so the time here pass faster. If you still have time after those you can do RC racer, and choose the activities that suit you best from our full list.
